Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.
Our representative from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. Then you will be transferred to the hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Our staff will help you until the check-in procedure ends at the Hotel. You can either have rest at the Hotel or visit NGT's office for gathering additional information about the trip. In the evening, please join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu 
Today we will spend most of our day sightseeing around some of the world heritage sites of UNESCO inside Kathmandu Valley.
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Paro [2280m/7478ft]
Today you will be transferred to airport for taking a flight to Paro. After landing at Paro airport you will be greeted by our representative from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition. Then you will be transferred to the hotel in Paro. You can either have rest at the hotel or take a walk around the streets of Paro in the evening. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 04: Hike to Taktsang Monastery – Tiger’s Nest Monastery 
After breakfast we will accomplish a hike of about two hours to reach Taktsang Monastery - popularly known as ' Tiger's Nest Monastery '. It is the most valued temple of Bhutan that hangs on a fascinating granite cliff overlooking the whole Paro valley below. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava, who is widely known as Guru Rinpoche flew on a tigress' back on this site to subdue a demon. After that he stayed and meditated here for three months. The monastery was blessed and sanctified as one of Bhutan's most sacred religious sites. We will be spending most of the day hiking and exploring around Tiger Nest Monastery and descend back to Paro.

Day 05: Drive to Army Camp and Trek to Pine Camp [3000m/9840ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
After breakfast we leave Paro and take a drive that passes along Drugyel Dzong and further towards Army Camp - the starting point of the trek. We will meet our trekking crew and start our Chomolhari Base Camp trekking adventure. Our trail heads upstream along the Pachu river through beautiful pine forest to reach our campsite at Pine Camp near 3,000 meters above the sea level. Once at the campsite our crew will set up the camp for our overnight stay.

Day 06: Trek from Pine Camp to Soi Thanthangkha [3800m/12464ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]
Today we leave our campsite at Pine Camp and start to follow the rising trail that goes through additional forest of rhododendron, oak and blue pine. Our trail can be muddy in places so, trekking poles can be very useful for our trekking today. After some time of trekking we will arrive at a good campsite in the clearing of the forest at Soi Thanthangka, where we will camp for the overnight stay.

Day 07: Trek to Jangothang (Chomolhari Base Camp) [4050m/13284ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
From Soi Thanthangkha we leave our campsite and trek passing along and above the tree line and enter into a beautiful valley. After few hours of trekking we will arrive at our campsite at Jangothang or Chomolhari Base Camp. From here we will have stunning views of Mt Chomolhari. Our crew will quickly set up the camp. We will spend an additional day exploring around the region.

Day 08: Rest & Exploration day at Jangothang (Chomolhari Base Camp) 
Today we will spend our day exploring around Chomolhari Base Camp. Besides there are several good hike options from Jangothang that are considered best for acclimatization. We can trek upto a ridge to the north for enjoying best views of Mt Chomolhari, Mt Jichu Drake.  Optionally we can walk upto the twin lakes at Tsho Phu at 4350 meters. Overnight at Chomolhari Base Camp.

Day 09: Trek from Jangothang to Lingshi [4100m/13448ft] via Nyele la pass 4800 [15744ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]
After spending a good day exploring around Chomolhari Base Camp, we leave Jangothang and head for the crossing of Nyele La Pass at 4,800 meters. After a rather steep ascend we will reach the top of the pass from where we will have stunning views of Mt Takaphu to the north and Tiger Mountain to our east. From the top of the pass we will leave Mt Chomolhari and Mt Jichu Drake behind and descend all the way down through stands of rhododendron trees to Lingshi for overnight camping.

Day 10: Trek from Lingshi to Shodu [3750m/12300ft] via Yale La Pass at [4950m/16236ft] [7-8 hrs Trek]
Today we start early as we have a long trekking day ahead of us. We leave our campsite and gradually follow the trail that goes opposite from the Dzong and enters through beautiful valley. Our trek then climbs steeply towards Yale La Pass at 4,950 meters which is the highest point of the whole trip. Our tiring climb to the top of the pass is rewarded with panoramic views of Mt Chomolhari, Jichu Drake and Tshrim Gang. Then we will descend all the way to Shodu for our overnight camping.

Day 11: Trek from Shodu to Barshong [3750m/12300ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
After breakfast we leave our campsite at Shodu and follow the trail that descends along Thimchu River and through forest filled of rhododendron, juniper and pine trees. Our trek continues as we pass through cascading waterfalls and views of hanging-cliffs of rocks. After few hours of downhill trekking, our trail ascends gradually to arrive at the ruins of Barshong Dzong and to our campsite.

Day 12: Trek from Barshong to Dodina and Drive to Thimphu [3-4 hrs Trek & 1-2 hrs Drive]
Today is the last trekking day. After breakfast we leave Barshong and descend along the Thmchu river. After a while our trail is a mixture of both uphill and downhill trekking through dense forest filled with bamboo and pine trees. From Dolemkencho our trail descends to Dodina - the ending point of the trek. From Dodina we will take a drive of about two hours to reach Thimphu.

Day 13: Sightseeing tour in Thimpu and evening transfer to Paro 
At Thimpu we will make visits to National Memorial Chorten, National Library - for witnessing piles of priceless Buddhist manuscripts, Bhutan Folk Heritage Museum - where we can learn about Bhutanese household and lifestyle as the museum exhibits items and artifacts used in rural household. After lunch we will visit Textile Museum - where traditional art of weaving is still preserved. There is a fine collection of old textiles with fascinating mixture of colors and designs. We will also visit the Handicraft Emporium that has impressive Bhutanese handicrafts for sale. In the evening we will drive back to Paro for our overnight stay.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu
After the wonderful experience of trekking to Chomolhari Base Camp - the Bhutanese history, culture, tradition and lifestyle you will take a flight from Paro back to Kathmandu. Our airport representative will pick you up at the airport in Kathmandu. Then a drive to the hotel in Kathmandu City. You will be spending one more day for exploring Kathmandu Valley.

Day 15: Leisure day at Kathmandu
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. In the evening walk around the souvenirs shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will have a final meal together in the evening for celebrating the completion of Chomolhari Base Camp Trek with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition.

A great trek and an excellent way to explore the nature and people of Bhutan !! Amazing views of high mountains and beautiful valleys.
