Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the classic trekking trails of the world that is located inside Khumbu region Nepal. Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition starts after a short mountain flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. Lukla is a gateway of whole Everest region Trekking and Mountaineering. From Lukla, we gradually start our journey to Sherpa Kingdom Namche Bazaar. After spending a full day rest for acclimatization and excursion at Namche Bazaar we continue our trek passing through Tyangboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep respectively. En-route we explore several Buddhist monasteries, charming villages, high alpine valleys, frozen waterfalls and mind-blowing views of Himalayan ranges.

After Gorakshep, we take a hike to Everest Base Camp 5380m to explore bold views of mountains. Next day, early morning we hike to Kalapatthar – the best viewpoint in the world to enjoy the views of world’s highest mountains including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and other high peaks in Everest region. The reflection of maturing sun over the snow-capped mountains provides a memorable experience and pleasure of heaven.  Then we head back to Gorakshep, have breakfast and fly back to Kathmandu with a helicopter flight. During the flight, we can have splendid views of entire Nepalese mountains, landscapes, and villages in a different way.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.
Our airport arrival and departure representative will be at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be transferred to hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla [2800m/9184ft] & Trek to Phakding [2640m/8659ft][45m fly & 4 Hrs Trek]
We take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, that takes around 35 minutes. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and the entire Everest region. From Lukla our trek starts following a gentle climb through left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. The Dudh Koshi approaches as we pass along mani walls and arrive at a Ghat teahouse. The route continues along a small path with many climbs and descents following the left bank of Dudh Koshi to arrive at Phakding.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar [3440m/11283ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek]
The trail from Phakding starts by crossing a stream and climbing up the terraced hill until we arrive at Bengar. We continue along the path with many ups and downs, we make a stop at the National Park Service where the park entrance fee is collected. After a short distance along the Bhote Koshi, we begin the steep ascent towards Namche Bazar. As the mountain path zigzags uphill, we emerge at a ridge top rest area that offers excellent views of Everest 8848m and Lhotse 8516m. The climb eases somewhat as the path goes along the pine forest to reach Namche Bazar.

Day 04: A day for rest at Namche Bazaar - for acclimatization. 
Acclimatization is very crucial as we have now passed over 3000 meters. Namche is an ideal place to spend a good day acclimatization. Namche is an extensive market town that has always something to see and places to explore. It is worth taking a walk up to Sagarmatha National Park Museum and explore around the combined villages of Khunde and Khumjung that comprises of several chortens and impressive mani walls.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche [3867m/12683ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek] 
Leaving Namche Bazaar we will make the first climb to the ridge above Namche and the Sagarmatha National Park Museum and then follow the trail that rises gradually towards Khyangjuma. From here we will have magnificent view of Mt Ama Dablam on the far side of the valley. We will descend on a stone paved trail to reach Phunke Tenga. From there we will make a climb through pine forest to arrive at Tyangboche. We will make a visit to the gompa and the monastery at Tyangboche.

Day 06: Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche [4260m/13972ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek] 
From Tyangboche we will follow the trail that goes through delightful forest filled with rhododendron, pines and birch trees towards Pangboche. From Pangboche we will follow the trail that descends and then crosses a bridge before continuing up above the Imja Khola on a broad trail that leads all the way up to Dingboche.

Day 07: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche [4930m/16170ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek]  
Leaving Dingboche we will climb to a white chorten on the top of the ridge behind Dingboche. From there we will descend to cross a small river that flows from the end of Khumbu Glacier. We will climb the lateral moraine on the north side of the glacier on a well-defined trail and pass through a series of stone memorials for climbers who died around the surrounding peak expedition attempts. We will cross over a bridge and continue to trek to reach often crowded tea houses of Lobuche.

Day 08: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep [5180m/16990ft] then trek to Everest Base Camp [5380m/17646ft] and back to Gorakshep [7-8 Hrs Trek] 
Trek up the valley following the rocky moraine path, view icy glacial ponds and icebergs down below of the Khumbu glacier. After the last rocky moraine dunes, a short downhill walk brings us to Gorakshep, the flat field below Kalapatthar 5545m and Mt. Pumori 7145m. Gorakshep is the location of the original Everest Base Camp with the new camp being further up the valley. Now the trail winds through a rocky path and the Khumbu glacier towards Everest Base Camp. After witnessing a great moment, we retrace our steps back passing through the Khumbu glacier towards Gorakshep.

Day 09: Morning Hike to KalaPatthar [5545m/18187ft] for tantalizing sunrise view over Mt. Everest & Back to Gorakshep. After Breakfast, fly back to Kathmandu [2 hrs flight]
We accomplish an early morning hike to Kala Patthar 5545m. Leaving the tea houses of Gorakshep we climb north by north-east to a prayer flag covered rocky summit of Kalapatthar. It is one of the highest viewpoints on earth from where we can enjoy the magnificent sunrise view over Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Makalu 8481m, Mt. Cho Oyu 8201m and other surrounding peaks. After spending quality time at Kalapatthar we descend back to Gorakshep. After breakfast, we will take a scenic helicopter flight from Gorakshep back to Kathmandu. The helicopter flight offers eagle eye view over the breathtaking valleys and up close views of surrounding high peaks which truly is an experience of a lifetime.

Day 10: Leisure day in Kathmandu
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. Also, walking around the shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will have a final meal together in the evening.

Day 11: Transfer to International Airport for Departure

Amazing helicopter flight from Gorakshep

We would like to thank you Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition for arranging us this trip to fulfill our desire. Our trekking guide was frank, funny, knowledgeable and hard working as well as our porters was really loyal and keen to work. We did not want to use same returning descend trail of EBC, so we prefer Helicopter back to Kathmandu. It was really amazing experience….wow wow!!!!! I cannot even imagine!!!!!
