is an adventurous trekking in the Everest region that includes excursion around Gokyo valley and the crossing of adventurous Cho La Pass at 5420 meters combined with the memorable hike up to best viewpoints of Everest - Gokyo Ri at 5340 meters and Kala Patthar at 5545 meters. Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with EBC starts at Kathmandu. From Kathmandu, we will take a short and scenic flight to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest region of Nepal. After landing at the airstrip of Lukla, we begin our trek on the slightly rising trail towards Namche Bazaar – The Sherpa Capital.  At Namche Bazaar we will spend a full day rest for exploration and for acclimatization. From Namche, our trek continues over an ascending trail passing along Dole and Machhermo as we approach Gokyo. We will accomplish an early morning hike to Gokyo Ri from where we can enjoy the mesmerizing views of chains of high mountains including Mt Everest. Then we will spend the rest of the day exploring around Gokyo valley. From there, our trek leads towards the crossing of adventurous and challenging high alpine pass - Cho La Pass at 5420 meters. After about four hours of steep climbing, we will reach the top of the pass from where we can have great views of snow covered peaks such as Nirekha, Cholatse, Kwangde and other surrounding high peaks. We will spend some time at the top of the pass before descending towards Dzongla. From there, our trek continues towards Gorakshep which is the last stop with comfy tea houses and services. We trek further up to Everest Base Camp for achieving an experience of a lifetime and trek back to Gorakshep. The following day we will accomplish an early morning hike to Kalapatthar at 5545 meters for enjoying the magnificent sunrise view over Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, Ama Dablam and other surrounding mountains within Everest region. We will spend short but quality time at Kalapatthar before trekking back on the main EBC trail to reach Lukla. Accommodations:
Your accommodation in Kathmandu will be arranged in three star rated hotel. However, if you wish to upgrade your accommodation status in Kathmandu – it will be arranged in no time. Unlike this, your accommodation during the trekking days will be arranged in comfy and comfortable tea houses. Attached toilets may not be available in all the tea houses. In such condition, you will have to share the public toilet outside your respective rooms. 

Meals:
We provide a BB plan in Kathmandu. The organized package trip of Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with EBC includes the cost of all meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) for the entire trekking days.  Thanks to the tea house lodges along the trails you will be offered hygienic meals which is very important for the trek. Another important thing to remember is that we will have our dinner and breakfast at the same tea house lodge that we spend the overnight. After breakfast, we start our trek. En route we make a stop for having Lunch and then continue on our further trekking.  

Physical Conditions and Experience Required:
Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with EBC is an adventurous trekking which demands at least four to five hours of trekking per day. Hence a good level of physical fitness that has been maintained with at least 2 hours of physical training (jogging, swimming, gym etc) prior to the actual trekking date. Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with EBC includes trekking in high altitude, so unexpected altitude sickness may arise anytime. For such wanted conditions we recommend trekking at slow and steady pace. Previous trekking experience is a merit for Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with EBC.

Best Season for Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with EBC:
3 months in Spring (March, April, May) and 3 months in Autumn (September, October, November) These 6 months are considered as the best time for trekking around Gokyo Chola and EBC. The clear weather conditions allow trekkers make the most out of their days in the enchanting spot on the planet (Gokyo region). However, for trekkers wanting to avoid the crowd of the season, a rather easy and calm trekking can be done around December, January, and February. Similarly, we have the monsoon season – June, July and August, heavy rain and no good for trekking in this time.  

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4711ft] & Transfer to Hotel
Our airport representative will greet you at Tribhuwan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will then be transferred to our hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. Our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. You can either have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT's office for gathering additional information about the trek; Gokyo Cho La Pass with EBC. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla [2800m/9184ft] [45 min flight] & Trek to Phakding [2640m/8659ft] [3-4 Hrs Trek]
After breakfast we will take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, which takes around 45 minutes. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest region of Nepal. After landing at the airstrip of Lukla we begin our trek over the trail that climbs gently along the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Our trek passes along several mani walls as we approach Ghat. From there our trail is a mixture of several ups and downs along the left bank of Dudh Koshi to reach Phakding for our overnight stay.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar [3440m/11283ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek]
Today we leave Phakding and follow the trail that crosses a small stream before climbing up the terraced hill to arrive at Bengar. A mixture of several uphill and downhill trekking will lead us towards Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park Service where the park entrance fee is collected. As the mountain path zigzags uphill, we emerge at a ridge top rest area that offers excellent views of beautiful valleys and surrounding mountains. Our climb eases somewhat as the path goes along the pine forest to reach Namche Bazaar, also known as - The Sherpa Capital.

Day 04: Rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion around the places. 
Namche Bazaar is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization before we head off higher towards Gokyo valley. Namche Bazaar is an extensive market town where there is always something to see and places to explore. For acclimatization we can take a walk up to Khumjung Monastery or make an hour's hike up to Syangboche at 3800 meters from where we can get outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru and other high peaks. There are also good views from the National Park Centre and Museum just above the town.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole [4040m/13251ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek]
After spending a good day rest at Namche Bazaar, we continue our trek following the route that heads up all the way to Kumjung. It is a picturesque village which also has its own Gompa at the top end of town. From here we will have excellent views of Thamserku, Kantega and Ama Dablam. Soon after leaving Khumjung our trail climbs to a large chorten on top of a ridge. We trek along a steep downhill passing through Phortse Tenga, from there our trail climbs steeply through rhododendron and birch forest towards Dole for our overnight stay.

Day 06: Trek from Dole to Machhermo [4410m/13578ft] [3-4 Hrs Trek]
From Dole our trail climbs steadily along the side of the valley, where the small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude increases. We trek passing through several summer settlements, which are used when yaks are taken to these pastures to graze in the summer months. Ahead of us lies an excellent views of Cho Oyu, while back down the valley are the stunning views of Kantega and Thamserku. This is a short trekking day, so we will arrive at Machhermo in time for lunch.

Day 07: Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo Lake [4750m/15580ft] [4-5 Hrs Trek]
Today we trek towards the pristine and crystal clear glacial lakes of Gokyo. After breakfast we begin to descend following the melt-water Rivers of the Ngozumpa Glacier. Soon our trail heads for a steep climb through the rocky trails into the valley. We will pass through the first of the holy lakes. Soon we arrive at the second lakes, crossing the path which heads across the glacier to Cho La Pass (5420m). The third lake is known as Dudh Pokhari and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo.

Day 08: Hike to Gokyo Ri [5340m/17515ft] and Excursion in and around Gokyo valley.
Gokyo Ri looms above the village on the northern edge of the lake. We will accomplish an early morning hike following a steep path up the hillside. As we climb, the summits of Everest, Lhotse and Makalu slowly come into sight and the view from the summit of Gokyo Ri itself, is one of the finest to be had in the Everest region - some say it is even better than that from Kala Patthar. After spending some quality time at Gokyo Ri, we descend back to Gokyo. We will spend the rest of the day exploring around Gokyo.

Day 09: Trek from Gokyo to Dragnag [4650m/15252ft] [3-4 Hrs Trek]
Today is a rather short trekking day. After spending a full day exploration around Gokyo, we will follow the trail that crosses the most impressive glacier in the entire Everest region – Ngozumba Glacier. With great views of surrounding high peaks we will leave Gokyo and trek towards Dragnag for our overnight stay. We need as much rest as possible for the crossing of Cho La Pass, the following day - which is covered with ice and snow most of the time.

Day 10: Trek from Dragnag to Dzongla [4843m/15885ft] via Chola pass [5420m/17777ft] [6-7 Hrs Trek]
Today we start early as we head for the crossing of challenging Cho La Pass. After breakfast we leave Dragnag and follow the trail that ascends slightly along the valley and steepens as we approach towards the pass. The Cho La Pass is most of the time covered with blue ice giving its trekkers a chill feeling. During the crossing of the pass we can enjoy the panoramic view of several snow capped mountains along with the Gokyo valley. From the top of the pass, our trail descends steeply down for about an hour and then slightly descending all the way to Dzongla for our overnight stay.

Day 11: Trek from Dzongla to Gorakshep [5180m/16990ft] via Lobuche [5-6 Hrs Trek]
After breakfast we leave Dzongla and trek towards Gorakshep. Our trek goes over the trail that crosses the Khumbu Glacier. Khumbu Glacier is the highest glacier of the world. Along the route we can see the memorials of people who died on the glacier. After crossing the glacier we continue our trek on the trail that heads towards Lobuche. From there we trek until we arrive at Gorakshep for our overnight stay. Gorakshep is the last stop with comfy teahouses and services.

Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp [5380m/176465ft] and back to Gorakshep [4-5 Hrs Trek]
After having our breakfast we will trek towards Everest Base Camp. We will follow the trail that weaves through ice pinnacles and over the crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier. During the spring season we will meet some expedition team on the Everest Base Camp. After witnessing a great moment at Everest Base Camp we will retrace our steps back to Gorakshep. Alternatively we can take a higher route for spectacular views of the Khumbu icefall and surrounding high mountains.

Day 13: Early Morning Hike to KalaPatthar [5545m/18177ft] and trek to Pheriche [4250m/13940ft] [6-7 Hrs Trek]
Today we will accomplish an early morning hike to Kalapatthar at 5545 meters which is considered as one of the best viewpoints of Everest region. From the top we will enjoy the magnificent sunrise view over Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kantega and other surrounding peaks. After spending quality time at Kalapatthar we descend downhill back to Gorakshep. From there we will prepare for our return trek and follow the trail that passes through Lobuche and continue trekking until we reach the windy village of Pheriche for our overnight stay.

Day 14: Trek from Pheriche toTyangboche [3850m/12528ft] [4-5 Hrs Trek]
At Pheriche we will pay a morning visit to the research center. Then we will have our breakfast and continue on our return trek following an easier descent leaving the high alpine vegetation and entering the subtropical environment, passing through rhododendron forest and continue trekking as we approach Tyangboche for our overnight stay. In the evening we will have great views of Ama Dablam and the beautiful valleys with lush green hills which is definitely a great feeling.

Day 15: Trek from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar [3440m/11283ft] [4-5 Hrs Trek]
After breakfast we continue our trek as we leave Tyangboche behind and trek towards Namche Bazaar. The walk from Tyangboche is mostly downhill on the main EBC trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phunge Tenga. From there our trek is a scenic and pleasant walk through Khumjung village that will brings us back to Namche Bazaar for the overnight stay.

Day 16: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla [2800m/9184ft] [5-6 Hrs Trek]
Today is the last day of this adventurous Gokyo Cho La Pass with EBC that leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant journey, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring us to Lukla. We will celebrate the completion of the trek with the crew in the evening.

Day 17: Fly from Lukla to KathmanduToday we will take a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu.
After landing at Kathmandu airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at the hotel or visit world heritage sites of UNESCO inside Kathmandu valley. Besides taking a walk around the busy streets of Kathmandu can be worth spending some quality time in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Leisure day at Kathmandu
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. We will have a final meal together in the evening for celebrating the completion of the trek.
