Trip Introduction:
Makalu Trek with Sherpani Col is an excellent opportunity to explore the less beaten trails of Makalu region combined with the popular Everest region. The massive Makalu-Barun National Park offers breathtaking views of high landscapes and splendid views of surrounding mountains. The park is inhabited by Sherpa and Rai community based villages and is home to many endangered animals including Snow leopard and Red Pandas. The trek includes the crossing of three challenging passes - Sherpani Col 6180m, West Col 6190m and Amphu Laptsa Pass 5850m which are considerably the highest and hardest passes of the entire Himalayan Region of Nepal. Hence, previous experience of trekking is highly recommended for this trek.

Makalu Trek with Sherpani Col together with Nepal Guide Treks starts with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar. From here we take a two hours drive to reach Khandbari - the starting point of the trek. We begin our trek passing through the terraced fields and dense Rhododendron filled forest. Climbing mostly uphill our trail leads towards Makalu Base Camp. After spending a day for exploration and acclimatization at the Makalu Base Camp we continue on our trail towards the crossing of the challenging pass Shepani Col 6180m. We continue to follow our trail descending steeply down to the glacier before crossing it and head towards Baruntse Base Camp. From here we head for the crossing of another challenging pass West Col at 6190m before reaching Amphu Laptsa Base Camp. We follow the trail that now heads for crossing one more pass Amphu Laptsa Pass 5850m before descending down to Chukkung. From Chukkung we follow a rather easy trail passing through Tengboche, Namche Bazaar towards Lukla. The adventurous experience at Makalu Trek with Sherpani Col together with Nepal Guide Treks ends with a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu.
