 Introduction:
A magnificent adventure journey “Manaslu and Larkey La pass Trek” leads towards the mid-west Himalayan range at Manaslu the world’s 8th highest mountain at 8,156m. The unique trail of Manaslu Trek follows upstream of Buri-Gandaki river leading from the sub-tropical forest to the dry arctic zone near the border of Tibet at Samdu and Lakya Phedi (used to be a trading, bartering bazaar with Nepal and Tibetan locals in the earlier days before the Chinese occupation in Tibet), the trekking path offers outstanding views of Mt. Manaslu along with panorama of the surrounding magnificent peaks that straddle the border with Tibet.

The Manaslu Larkey La pass trek with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition begins from the ancient Gorkha Kingdom and then driving journey heads towards the town- village at Arughat in the mid-west of Nepal. Adventure follows to the highest point of this journey at Larkay la with fantastic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, from the top of the pass, it is all downhill through the serene alpine forests and meadows till the walk reaches to the main trail of the Annapurna circuit at Dharapani village, journey continues towards the road head at Chamje or Dharapani village for a scenic drive back to Kathmandu with stunning views of the Manaslu and Annapurna mountain range following the traditional mid hills villages of Gurungs, Magar till Kathmandu is reached after an overwhelming experience of a lifetime trekking with Nepal Guide Treks & Expeditions.

Accommodations:
For our published package trip of this Manaslu Larkay La Pass Trek - we have designed and offered accommodation on three star hotels in Kathmandu which can be upgraded as per the requirement of our dear clients. During the entire trekking of Manaslu Larkay La Pass you will be provided accommodation in the comfortable tea house lodges. Accommodations will be arranged in Single, Double, Triple or Twin – Sharing Basic as per the preference and requirement of the trekkers.

Meals:
Our organized package trip (Manaslu Larkay La Pass Trek) includes the cost for all meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) during the entire trekking days and BB Plan in Kathmandu. Wide varieties of food including Nepali, Continental, Tibetan, Indian, Italian etc will be offered in the menu. Dinner and Breakfast will be served in the same tea house lodge where we have arranged the accommodation. However we will make a stop for having lunch en-route before continuing our trek as we head towards our estimated destination for the overnight stay. You will be served with hygienic and healthy meals assuring the best physical fitness required for the whole trekking in Manaslu region of Nepal.  

Physical Conditions and Experience Required:
Manaslu Larkay La Pass trekking is considered easy trekking with abundance of tea house lodges / services and also because of the fact the trails are well defined. However, good level of physical fitness that has been derived from at 2-3 hours of regular exercise (gym, running,cycking, swimming ,etc) on a daily basis is a must for the trek. Previous trekking experience is strongly recommended, however mountaineering skills and experience is a plus but not mandatory for Manaslu Larkya La Pass Trek. 

Best Season for Manaslu Larkay La Pass Trek:
The beast season for Manaslu Larkya La Pass Trekking is done between (March, April & May) – 3 months in Spring Season and ( September, October & November) – 3 months in Autumn Season. Thanks to the locals and their huge effort for running the tea houses and other services, trekking can be done easily during December, January and February. Considered as the monsoon season June, July and August will be affected by rains and is not the best time for trekking with heavy clouds and rains.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.
Our airport arrival and departure representative will be at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be transferred to hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have rest at Hotel or visit NGT’s office. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing.

Day 03: Drive to Soti Khola [712m/2335ft] [9-10 hrs drive]
We drive a scenic zigzag hilly road to Sati Khola, north of the market town of Arughat. It takes approximately nine to ten hours to reach the destination from Kathmandu.

Day 04: Trek from Soti Khola to Maccha Khola [883m/2896ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
We start the trek by crossing the bridge, climbing over a big rock before eventually descending back down to the banks of the Buri Gandaki. We trek up again on a steep rocky trail clinging to the side of a cliff, then up and around to the Gurung village of Labishe 880m and beyond to the river.

Day 05: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat [1415m/4641ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Following the course of the Buri Gandaki, we climb and descend through many ridges. Eventually, the river valley widens allowing us to follow a good trail towards Jagat (1,415m). Jagat is a common village name in the high mountains meaning 'custom post' and is the traditional tax collection point for trade to and from Tibet.

Day 06: Trek from Jagat to Deng [1804m/5917ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]
The trail heads towards Setibas where we can see several mani walls indicating that we are entering Tibetan influenced region. The trail continues up to the stone houses of Ghatta Khola, towards Philim. The trail now enters a steep uninhabited gorge, descending through the grassy slopes and crossing the Buri Gandaki, the route becomes a pleasant walk through bamboo forests to the tiny village of Deng. This region is known as Kutang and is inhabited primarily by Gurungs who practice Buddhism.

Day 07: Trek from Deng to Namrung [2670m/8757ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]
We follow the up-down trail towards Ghap - a village of five or six stone houses famous for its mani wall with distinctive carvings of Buddha. The route ascends making a long climb through bamboo and rhododendron filled forests to Namrung - a village with lovely stone houses and a police check post that controls access to the upper part of the valley.

Day 08: Trek from Namrung to Shya [3530m/11578ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
From Namrung we trek towards the Nupri Region, inhabited by descendants of Tibetan immigrants. After passing through the villages of Barcham, Li, and Sho - the trail finally emerges onto a plateau at Shya, one of the most spectacular view sites in the Himalayas, with wide vistas of Himal Chuli and Manaslu.

Day 09: Trek from Shya to Samagaon [3541m/11614ft] [2-3 hrs Trek]
The trail crosses a ridge, enters and then exits a side canyon. From here we climb across the rocky slopes to emerge onto a ridge overlooking the extensive pastures and fields of Samagaon, a busy village with a gompa is worth paying a visit.

Day 10: Acclimatisation day at Samagaon.
We take a day-off to acclimatize, relax and explore the areas around Samagaon. Walking up to the monastery, looming around the busy village with warm and friendly locals, or visiting the local school can be a good idea to spend a day here at Samagaon.

Day 11: Trek from Samagaon to Samdo [3872m/12700ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
We leave Samagaon following the trail that runs north and parallel to Buri Gandaki. The route heads through the summer herding area of Khormo Kharka, from where we can have a magnificent view of Manaslu from the mani wall. We continue our trek by climbing up for an hour before dropping again to a bridge over the river. After a short ascent, the trail reaches Samdo - A Tibetan refugee settlement of about 40 homes.

Day 12: Acclimatisation day at Samdo.
It is necessary for us to have another acclimatisation day, before heading up to 4500 m tomorrow and the crossing of Larke La Pass 5135m the day after. While at Samdo, we should consider climbing up the slopes to the north for some great view of the entire Manaslu range.

Day 13: Trek from Samdo to Larkya Pedhi [4494m/14740ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
From Samdo the trail descends to the bridge and across the Gyala Kholo. From there we begin to climb the trail to a large pile of mani stones just above Larkya Bazaar. Heading further upwards with magnificent views of Larkya Peak and the north face of Manaslu, we reach Larkya Pedhi where there is a large emergency shelter with recently built teahouses.

Day 14: Trek to Bimtang [3720m/12201ft] via Larkya La Pass [5135m/16842ft] [8-9 hrs Trek]
We start the trek before sunrise and climb up a ridge, eventually ending up on top of the moraine at 4690m. From here the trail begins to climb more steeply to the top of Larkya La 5135m, where we will be greeted by amazing views of Himlung and Cheo Himals, Menjung, Gyagi Kang, Kang Guru and Annapurna II. After spending quality time at the pass we start to descend steep slope which is often icy and snow covered. The trail continues to descend passing through the glaciers. An easy gradient finally indicates that we are at Bimtang.

Day 15: Trek from Bimtang to Dharapani [2006m/6579ft] [7-8 hrs Trek]
From Bimtang we descend down through pine and rhododendron forests to Hompuk and down to a fork of the Dudh Khola. From here the trail can be a little difficult to follow across some large landslides to the scattered settlement of Kharche. It is now a downhill slope to the large Gurung village of Tilije. We cross a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi river to reach Dharapani.

Day 16: Trek from Dharapani to Syange [1194m/3916ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
We climb up and away from the Marsyangdi river and hike through a broad, flat valley towards the village of Tal. The village lies at the foot of a large waterfall. The trail then continues to Chyamje crossing the river once again. From there we descend through forests of rhododendron and pine to Syange.

Day 17: Drive back to Kathmandu [8-9 hrs drive]
Having completed our trek, we prepare ourselves for a drive from Syange back to Kathmandu. At, first the drive may not seem pleasant because of the bumpy roads but once we are on the highway - the zigzag road offers beautiful riverside scenery on our way back to Kathmandu.

Day 18: Free day at Kathmandu.
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. The world heritage sites inside Kathmandu, if not visited on the second day of the trip can be visited on this day. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. Also, walking around the shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will have a final meal together in the evening.

Day 19: Transfer to International Airport for departure.
