Trip Introduction;
Nar and Phu are two separate hidden valleys located inside Annapurna region of Nepal. It was opened for tourists in 2003 as a restricted area (need to issue restricted area permit). Nar Phu Valley Trek is comparatively less beaten and remote trekking region of Nepal. Lying in the rain shadow of the Annapurna Circuit, Nar Phu valley is situated to the north of the massive Annapurna. Nar Phu Valley Trek comprises of exploration of rich natural wonders, fascinating culture and inspiring tradition. The trek is a perfect match for trekkers and explorers wanting to discover the hidden wonders of the relatively unexplored region of Nepal.

Phu Valley is a medieval stonewalled village that sits beautifully on a rock spur overlooked by Tashi Gompa. Similarly, Nar Valley is situated south of Phu behind a popular trekking peak - Pisang Peak. This trek allows us to explore the villages of Nar and Phu while trekking through lush and green forests filled with Rhododendron and Pines, visits to several monasteries with religious significance and crossing of the challenging high alpine passes - Thorong La Pass at 5416 meters and Kang La Pass at 5306 meters. In addition, one gets to experience unique Himalayan cultures and enjoying magnificent views of surrounding high mountains.

Nar Phu Valley Trek with Nepal Guide Treks starts at Kathmandu. After spending a full day sightseeing inside Kathmandu valley, we will take a scenic long drive from Kathmandu passing through Beshisahar to reach Chamje - the starting point of the trek. From Chamje, we will start our trek by crossing a suspension bridge and then climbing towards the village of Tal - official entry to Manang District. Following the trail at the west bank of the river, we head towards Dharapani. With good views of the Annapurna range and sections of Lamjung Himal, we will climb through dense pine and fir forest, rejoining the road for a long and easy descent to Koto.

After registration and permit checks at Koto village, we will make a gradual downhill descent for the crossing of a suspension bridge. Then we will follow the trail at the true left bank of Nar Phu Khola gorge. From this point, the trail becomes steeper and we can hear the loud roars of rivers as the rapids crashes with huge stones and deposits of the landslides. We will continue on an easy trek along the forest section before climbing to the stone huts of Singenge. Our forward trekking continues with a climb to the seasonal settlement of Meta and from there towards a good campsite of Kyang. At this point, the valley opens up and the trail winds around and above a deep gorge before descending and crossing a suspension bridge to reach the village of Phu.

Phu village has a lot to offer to its visitors. A dry stone walled village of Phu is believed to be as old as 800 years ago. We will spend a day here at Phu for excursion and exploration around fascinating monasteries and traditional village streets. After spending quality time at Phu, we will continue to follow loose and steep trail that eases before reaching Nar village. Nar village is built in a natural bowl with many beautiful terraced fields beneath. Leaving the village we follow on a trail that passes through a small hydro plant and then climbs through past yak herding pastures to reach Kang La Phedi. From here we will climb for about four hours to reach the top of the Kang La Pass at 5306 meters. Good views of Machhapuchre (Fish Tail), Tilicho Peak, entire Manang valley; Annapurna III and IV can be enjoyed from the top. A steep descent from the top of the pass and then an easy downhill trail leads us to the village of Ngawal.

From there we continue our trek over the trail that connects the Annapurna Circuit, village of Braga and then to Manang. From Manang, we head for the crossing of the most popular and challenging Thorong La Pass at 5416 meters and then towards Jomsom. Our memorable trekking experience at Nar Phu Valley ends with a scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and a drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu.

Incredible trekking at Naar Phu Valley :))

We are a group of 4 people from Spain and we booked our trekking to Naar Phu Valley with Nepal Guide Treks and Expeditions. Words are not enough to describe how incredible it was to have done this trek. Thanks to Ramu - he was more than a guide to us. He was full of local knowledge and always made decisions only after discussing the matter with us. Naar Phu valley is a place one must visit. Fascinating valleys and beautiful villages with monasteries and chortens along the trail. Peaceful environment and friendly locals. It is a good feeling after finally crossing the Kang La and Thorong La Pass. Every trekker knows that feeling :) !! Thanks NGT for a great trip.

Amazing Trekking !! Less people, explore more at wonderful Naar Phu Valley !!

We just finished our wonderful trek to Naar Phu Valley together with Nepal Guide Treks. The trek went through narrow valleys and several bridges. There are several monasteries to see and good views of Kangaru Himal and Pisang Peak from a small hill near Phu village. The atmosphere around the village is from the old times, peaceful and inspiring. Leaving Naar village we crossed Kang la Pass which was difficult with lots of snow, however descent to Nwagal village was easy. Not to forget, we had great time at Manang and from there we did climbed Thorong la Pass. The view was outstanding. We just want to thank everyone in the Nepal Guide Treks' team for their loyalty and dedication for making this trip a memorable one for us. We recommend Nepal Guide Treks to anyone wanting to do travel related activities in Nepal.
Best Of Luck,
Chris + Grace - Australia
