Trip Introduction;
Island Peak Climbing with EBC
is an excellent opportunity who wants to climb the magnificent Island Peak - the most popular trekking peak in Nepal as well as trek to Everest Base Camp. Island Peak 6,189m /20,305ft or Imja Tse is located above the summer settlement of Chhukung and seen from above Dingboche. The peak rises miraculously as an Island in a sea of ice surrounded by Lhotse and Lhotse Shar Glaciers. The name - Island Peak is given by Eric Shipton's party in 1952 while exploring around Barun Gorge. First climbed in 1953 by Charles Evan, Alf Gregory, Charles Wylie and Tenzing Norgay as a part of preparation for climbing the highest peak of the world - Mount Everest. Island Peak is an attractive summit with highly glaciated West Face rising from the Lhotse Glacier that provides an adventurous climb with striking views of Mt Nuptse 7879m, Mt Lhotse 8501m, Lhotse Middle Peak 8410m and still unclimbed - Lhotse Shar 8383m to its North. To the East lies magnificent Red granite mass of Mt Makalu 8475m and Cho Polu 6734m. Mt Baruntse 7720m and the majestic Ama Dablam 6856m guards the entrance at the South over a glacial bay in which Island Peak stands. Island Peak Climbing with EBC is the best way to explore the dramatic landscapes, serene alpine forest, and rich Buddhist religion and culture friendly highland Sherpa communities in the midst of the world's highest mountains.

The adventure to Island Peak Climb and EBC (Everest Base Camp Trek) with Nepal Guide Treks & Expedition begins after a short and scenic mountain flight to Lukla - the gateway to the entire Everest and Khumbu region. The trail for Island Peak heads passing through Namche Bazaar - The Sherpa Capital. We walk through the thick forests of rhododendron, birch, oaks and pine trees towards Dingboche - the first viewpoint of Island Peak. Passing through the settlement of Lobuche and Gorakshep we head towards Everest Base Camp and the viewpoint at Kalapatthar before coming back to Dingboche. From Dingboche or trail goes upwards the high Imja valley and Island Peak base camp. We set our camp on the base camp of Island Peak's south ridge, enclosed by striking views beneath the Nuptse-Lhotse wall. At the evening we make sure that everyone in the team is acclimatized, physically and mentally fit before climbing the Peak. With the support of Nepal Guide's experienced climbing experts and using crampons, ice axes and other equipments, the technical and challenging climb of Island Peak is achieved as for the lifetime experience. From the summit, we will enjoy great views of some of the towering mountains of the world including Mt Lhotse, Mt Makalu, Lhotse Middle Peak, Lhotse Shar, Mt Nuptse, Mt Baruntse, the majestic Ama Dablam and other surrounding high snow covered peaks. After the challenging climb to the summit of Island Peak, we will spend short quality time at the summit before descending down and retrace our trekking trail for our return journey to reach back to Lukla. This exciting adventure climbing trek at Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp ends with a mind capturing scenic mountain flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu.

Island Peak and do an Everest region Trek

It is hard to articulate how lucky and thankful I am that I walked into Nepal Guide Office from the first moment and first cup of tea I was treated with respect and honesty. There are so many trekking companies in KTM, it is almost impossible to know who to trust, my instinct, after visiting countless agencies, told me Prakash would make my trip memorable. He far and away exceeded my expectations; I first did the Annapurna Circuit Trek, what a way to first see Nepal! My guide was Rajan, he made me feel night at home and gave me such an ?inside? look at the scenery and Culture, I was then supposed to leave Nepal and travel to China. However I had such a great time on my first trek, I decided to stay and climb the Island Peak and do an Everest region trek. Prakash custom scheduled a trip for me. In a word, it was amazing! Again, Rajan was my guide for the trek. Ang Dawa was my climbing guide. I cannot say enough how much fun Island Peak Was. I have been traveling for quite a while and Prakash and Nepal Guide Treks are truly the capstore of my trip. Please feel free to email me with any questions or more info. Id love to talk about my adventures!

Cheers, Tommy Trause

Second Guide, with Excellent Experience

From the moment i bumped into D.B. at the airport I felt these guys were a safe bet. I had no previous experience of trekking or Nepal. But Prakash listened to my plans and put together a great trip. The price was very reasonable, and he managed to get me a guide, Dawa Sherpa, who was happy to carry my pack. He was a great guy to walk with for 22 + days, nothing was ever a problem, he always give me bet price for lodging, food, beer + cigarette and other essentials. Whenever I wanted to rest, we rested, when I wanted to push onto the near village, sometimes in the dark, we would. He didn?t complain once. Ever ewhen I suggested we climb Island Peak (6189m.) with no climbing experience, he made it happen, using his own experience and Savoy and contacts,. We got a permit and equipment from chulung , and a second guide, with excellent experience- and up we went . It was the perfect end to a superb trip, huge amount of fun, great exercise, great value. You should use this company, Nepal Guide Treks, they will listen to you and you can trust them on price, knowledge, experience, and general ease + pleasantness to deal with.

Have fur, all the best and let these guys with after your.

Kind regs,
Daroufterwlt (Shendy)
