Mera Peak – 6461m
Mera Peak is an attractive trekking peak in Mahalangur Himalayan Range of Nepal inside Sagarmatha National Park. The peak was first ascended by Col. Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing on May 20, 1953. The adventurous summit of Mera Peak climbing rewards by close up visibility of Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Makalu 8485m, Mt. Cho Oyu 8150 and many other snow-capped peaks. A Mera peak contains three major faces likely to climb; Mera North Face at 6476 at meters, Mera Central Face at 6461 meters and Mera Southern Face at 6065 meters. Among all of them, Mera Central peak at 6461 meters is popularly climbing. Rest of the faces are highly challenging, difficult to summit and not popular for climbing purpose. 

Island Peak – 6189m
Island Peak also known as Imja Tse is a very popular trekking peak in Sagarmatha National Park. An adventure seeker Eric Shipton and his team had seen a land of ice like an ice-ocean viewed from Dingboche then they took the peak’s name as Island Peak in 1951. The peak was later named by another name Imja Tse as well in 1983. However, Island Peak was first ascended by Charles Evan, Alf Gregory, Charles Wylie and Tenzing Norgay in 1953 as a part of a warm up climb prior to Mt. Everest Expedition. The summit of Island Peak offers striking views of world’s popular mountain ranges including Mt Everest, Mt Nuptse, Mt Lhotse, Mt Baruntse, Amadablam and many other snow capped peaks.

Accommodations:
While your stay in Kathmandu before starting the trip we will provide standard to deluxe hotels and resorts for your accommodation which you can choose as per your affordability. During the trekking period (before and after climbing of Mera and Island two Peaks) there are several tea house/lodges available. While we are in some places where tea house lodges are not available such as; Mera Base Camp, High Camp, Seto Pokhari, Island Base Camp - there we need to set up tented camp accommodation. So we will provide all tea house accommodation at available places and camping accommodation at the places where tea house/lodges are not available. Accommodation can be Single, Double, Triple or twin sharing basis as per your requirement.

Meals: 
We usually provide every adventure package trips with inclusive of all meals – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner including the package trip of this Mera and Island 2 Peaks Climbing. Basically, we offer BB plan in Kathmandu that’s why one can choose varieties of meals around in town. We will have dinner and breakfast in the same teahouse/camp where we stay overnight and will be en-route lunch way to next destination since we have to leave our accommodation after breakfast to continue the trek. You can enjoy the taste of varieties of cuisines; Nepali food, Tibetan, Continental, Indian, Italian etc by choosing in the menu. During the camping period; our kitchen team will prepare hygienic foods to serve you. There might not be several choices of foods during the camp as in the tea houses and restaurants; you need to understand that our crew have to carry all camping gears and kitchen equipments from available places but we are sure we will provide as much services and facilities as we can do to make your adventure holiday awesome.

Physical Conditions and Experience Required: 
Every Peak Climbing is a technical adventure activity in Nepal which requires previous trekking experience and technical skills about peak climbing gears to have successful summit. While comparing other peaks with this 2 peak climbing Mera and Island – this is comparatively more challenging and unique adventure since you need to accomplish 2 separate peaks in a same trip. Sometime, walking in high altitudes might attract by high altitude sickness, slow and steady walk would be the perfect solution. We suggest every adventure seekers who are planning to come Nepal for trekking adventure to do daily around an hour physical workout (jogging, hiking, cycling, gym, etc) prior to a couple of weeks. Previous trekking experience and knowledge about peak climbing is highly required for this peak climb.

Best Season for Mera and Island 2 Peaks Climbing: 
Peak Climbing in Nepalese mountain is a seasonal. Basically 3 months in autumn – September, October & November and 3 months in spring – March, April & May are the perfect time for this Mera and Island Two Peak Climb. During the time, weather would be clear, sunny and warm in Himalayas thus we can have great views of mountains. Nevertheless, some adventure-seeking clients who does like crowed environment also can choose December, January and February months for this trip. Monsoon season three months (June, July and August) will be ruined by rains.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to Hotel
Our representative from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be greeted and then transferred to the hotel in Kathmandu city. Our staff will help you until the check-in procedure ends at Hotel. You can either have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office for gathering additional information about the trip. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition which may help to be close each other individually between guests and hosts.

Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu + Trekking & Climbing Preparation
We will spend a day sightseeing around some of the attractive world heritage sites of UNESCO within Kathmandu valley. Also, today we will complete all the necessary paper works and other preparations required for Mera and Island Two Peak Climbing.
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing. Or one can expand one additional day to accomplish all important sightseeing points.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla [2800m/9184ft] [45 minutes] & Trek to Chhuthang [3020m/9905ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
Make sure your all backpacks are ready, take an early morning breakfast and leave the hotel to catch early morning flight to Lukla. You will be transferred from the hotel to Tribhuwan International Airport (Domestic Terminal) to have amazing mountain flight to Tenzing-Hilary airport Lukla – a small airstrip recognized as a world’s amazing airport is also one and only entrance and exit point of entire Everest region adventure trips. Then we begin our trek, following east side, passing several hamlets and thin forests. We continue the trail which goes towards small hillside just bellow from Black Mountain (Kalo Himal) range. We further continue our trail to finally reach at summer grazing flat land of Chhuthang where we will take dinner and overnight stay at Tea House Lodge.

Day 04: Trek from Chhuthang to Tuli Kharka [4100m/13448ft] via Zatrawala Pass [4600m/15088ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
After breakfast, we start our journey, at beginning we will follow a gradual ascend trail before we cross a scenic pass of Zatrawala at 4600 meters. Once we reach at the top of Zatrawala Pass, we will be greeted by amazing views of White Mountains including Numbir Himal, Kongde Ri, Karyolang Peak and other snowcapped ranges. After spending a short worthy time at the scenic pass, we gradually start following easy and gradual downhill all the way to Tuli Kharka, where we will have dinner and overnight stay at Tea House Lodge.

Day 05: Trek from Tuli kharka to Kothe [4182m/13716ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]
After having breakfast at Tuli Kharka, we continue our journey firstly following downhill towards Hinku River. Once we reach at Hinku river bank side, the trail dramatically starts following gradual ascends through rhododendron forests. During the season of spring, we can see colorful rhododendron flowers blooming along the route. The trail continuously follows west side of Hinku valley finally reach at Kothe where we will have dinner and a night overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 06: Trek from Kothe to Thangnak [4326m/14189ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
Leaving Kothe, we continue our journey along the ridge of Hinku River until we reach at Gondishung. It is a summer herder’s small settlement. Again, we continue the trek towards Lungsumgba Gompa, which is an old Gompa established in around 200 years back. At the place, we can see a fine stone carving of Mera Peak Climbing with detailed route description. After there we again continue easy and scenic trail all the way to summer settlement of Thangnak where we will have dinner and overnight stay at Tea House Lodge.

Day 07: Trek from Thangnak to Khare [5000m/16400ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Today is our quite tough trekking day while comparing with previous couple of days. After breakfast, we follow a gradual ascend over the glacier up to a Kharka. Kharka is a scenic view point from there we can have great views of surrounded snow-capped peaks. Again, we make a further ascend through moraines which lead us to the snout of Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers. After there, we continue climb steeply to reach at Khare. Khare is a place from where we can enjoy tantalizing view of Mera Peak (North Face). We will have dinner and overnight stay at Tea House Lodge.

Day 08: Trek to Mera Base Camp [5300m/17384ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
Leaving Khare, today we head towards Mera Base Camp by following gradual ascend over the Glacier of Mera. We steeply follow ascend until we reach to top of the glacier. After a couple of hours uphill we will reach at Mera Peak Base Camp. Our Crew team will find good campsite and set up the camps as sooner as possible. At evening we will have necessary preparation for further ascend towards Mera High Camp and towards the summit in our next days. We will have dinner and tented camp accommodation at Mera Base Camp.

Day 09: Trek to Mera High Camp [5700m/18696ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
After having breakfast at Base Camp, we start a day continue ascending towards High Camp. As we gradually follow ascends also continue gaining high altitudes, prefer to walk slowly and steady to be safe from altitude related problems. Sometime the trail would cover by snow and risk of slippery, there need to pay high carefulness and attention while ascending. Our Sherpa crew will quickly set up our camp by choosing safe campsite. From the camp we will have splendid views of world’s popular mountain ranges including Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Makalu 8481m, Cho Oyu 8201m, Nuptse 7861m and other surrounding high peaks. At evening you will have plenty of time to make a practice and be prepared before climbing the Mera Peak.

Day 10: Summit Mera Peak [6461m/21192ft] and descend to Kongma Dingma [4850m/15908ft] [9-10 hrs]
Excitement of our Mera and Island Two Peaks Climbing comes truly with today’s Mera Peak Summit. We begin our day with very early morning (before sunrise) follow climb of snow ridges led by our experienced climbing team. We continuously follow steeply climb until reach at the top of Mera Peak 6461m. From the top, we will have bold view of Mt. Everest, Cho Oye, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Kanchenjunga Baruntse, Chamlang and many other snow-capped peaks. After spending a memorable time at Mera peak, our journey safely retrace down via same route of Mera High Camp and Base Camp then continuously head towards Kongma Dingma. Our crew will cope up good campsite over there for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Trek from Kongma Dingma to Seto Pokhari [4825/15826ft] [5-6 hrs Trek] via Honku Valley
After breakfast, we leave Kongma Dingma by following the ascend trail towards Yak grazing open grounds and beautiful Honku Valley. The valley is remote and less explored part of Everest region since general climber makes a returning journey via same trail to Lukla after accomplish Mera Peak summit, we made accomplish two popular peaks climbing including those remote valley parts possible my offering two peaks climbing adventure trip. Having great views of surrounding mountains, explore high alpine valleys, our adventure journey continues towards camp of Seto Pokhari. Day 12: Trek to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp (South) [5650m/18532ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Today while continuing remote part trekking of our Mera and Island Two Peak Climbing journey, follow remote valleys with views of popular mountains we make numerous numbers of ascends and descends to reach at Amphu Lapcha South Base Camp.  Remaining parts of hinku valley in our previous day can be explored in today’s trekking. After reaching at Amphu Lapcha South Base Camp, our camping crew will quickly set up comfortable accommodation and hygienic meals. At evening prepare for our next day’s challenge to cross Amphu Lapcha La Pass at 5845m altitude.

Day 13: Trek to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp (North) [5300m/17384ft] [6-7 hrs Trek] via Amphu Lapcha La Pass [5845m/19177ft]
Today, we start our adventure journey early in the morning before sunrise aim to avoid snow melts from sun and effects of strong wind blows in the pass. Amphu Lapcha La Pass is one of the strongest trekking passes in Nepalese mountain region where we have to fix climbing ropes and use climbing gears. The pass is often covered by snow and ice, need to pay attention, carefulness and utilize climbing skills to be success. We will be rewarded by close up views of mountains and high alpine valleys from the top of pass. After spending few times at the pass, the trail continuously follows gradually descend all the way to Amphu Lapcha North Base Camp. We will find good campsite over there for dinner and overnight stay at tented camp accommodation.

Day 14: Trek to Island Peak Base Camp [5087m/16685ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Today, we leave Amphu Lapcha North Base Camp to continue trekking towards base camp of our second peak – Island Peak Base Camp. We follow the trail that leads with stunning views of surrounding snow-capped mountains, valleys and glaciers. After a couple of hour of gradual walk, we will reach at Chhukung valley where we will have our lunch. Chhukung is a junction point where our trail and the direct trail of Island Peak Climbing join. After there, we will make another a couple of hours ascend until we reach at Island Peak Base Camp. Our Sherpa Crew will set up the camp at the foot of southern ridge of Island Peak which is a giant wall of two high mountains; Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse. At evening we will have necessary preparation that requires for successful summit of Island Peak.

Day 15: Summit Island Peak [6189m/20299ft] and back to Base Camp [9-10 hrs]
Begin our day early in the morning, feel fully prepared and properly acclimatized, our adventure journey gradual ascend towards technical sections of Island Peak. Main aim of leaving base camp early in the morning is to be avoided from unusual winds and weathers which might be a cause of difficulty while climbing. Prefer to follow guidelines and instructions given by our experienced Sherpa guide to avoid any kinds of possible technical problems. Once we reach at the top, we will be rewarded by bold views of world’s popular high mountains including; Lhotse, Makalu, Lhotse Middle Peak, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Baruntse and other high peaks in Khumbu region. After spending a short memorable time at Island peak summit, our journey safely retrace back to Base Camp via same trail.

Day 16: Trek from Island Peak Base Camp to Dingboche [4260m/13972ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
After successfully achieving summit of Mera and Island two peaks climbing, today we will retrace our journey following same rocky descending trails towards Chhukung. Passing Chhukung, we will continue the trek to Dingboche via amazing Chhukung valley. Dingboche is a place of junction from where trekker can continue world’s classic route or Everest Base Camp and Kalapatther Trek.

Day 17: Trek from Dingboche to Namche Bazaar [6-7 hrs Trek]
After breakfast, we follow downhill towards, it is also a returning trail from main Everest Base Camp Trekking Trail. Within a couple of walk we will reach at Tyangboche where we can explore numerous numbers of monasteries along with bold view of Mt. Amadablam just behind from the monasteries. After there, we continue our easy and scenic downhill trail towards Namche Bazaar. Along the route, we will have great views of several snowcapped mountains which we never seen before during our Mera and Island Peaks Climbing Trip, they are Mt. Thamserku, Kwangde and other snowcapped ranges. At evening we will have walk around local market at Namche Bazaar.

Day 18: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla [6-7 hrs Trek]
The last day of our Mera and Island Two Peaks Climbing journey leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. We will descend passing through dense forested filled with rhododendron, oak and pine trees. Our trek is a pleasant walk, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote Koshi River crossing it three times. We will make a final uphill climb of approximately about forty-five minutes to reach Lukla.

Day 19: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu
After having our breakfast, we will take an early morning scenic flight from Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. After arriving at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at Hotel or pay a visit to attraction destination (world heritage sites of UNESCO) sites that weren’t possible on the second day of the trip. Walking around the busy streets of Kathmandu can be worth spending a good time around Kathmandu city.

There might not be several choices of foods during the camp as in the tea houses and restaurants; you need to understand that our crew have to carry all camping gears and kitchen equipments from available places but we are sure we will provide as much services and facilities as we can do to make your adventure holiday awesome.

Physical Conditions and Experience Required: 
Every Peak Climbing is a technical adventure activity in Nepal which requires previous trekking experience and technical skills about peak climbing gears to have successful summit. While comparing other peaks with this 2 peak climbing Mera and Island – this is comparatively more challenging and unique adventure since you need to accomplish 2 separate peaks in a same trip. Sometime, walking in high altitudes might attract by high altitude sickness, slow and steady walk would be the perfect solution. We suggest every adventure seekers who are planning to come Nepal for trekking adventure to do daily around an hour physical workout (jogging, hiking, cycling, gym, etc) prior to a couple of weeks. Previous trekking experience and knowledge about peak climbing is highly required for this peak climb.

Best Season for Mera and Island 2 Peaks Climbing: 
Peak Climbing in Nepalese mountain is a seasonal. Basically 3 months in autumn – September, October & November and 3 months in spring – March, April & May are the perfect time for this Mera and Island Two Peak Climb. During the time, weather would be clear, sunny and warm in Himalayas thus we can have great views of mountains. Nevertheless, some adventure-seeking clients who does like crowed environment also can choose December, January and February months for this trip. Monsoon season three months (June, July and August) will be ruined by rains.
