Trip Introduction;

This trip combines sightseeing tour to hub of Tibet Lhasa and then trek to Everest Advanced Base Camp. Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition begins from amazing flight to Lhasa from Kathmandu with splendid views world’s popular Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Cho Oyu and more.  We visit Potala Palace, Norbulinka, Barkhor Bazaar, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery and Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. Journey leads with scenic drive to Shigatse then finally reach to a place where our trek starts at Lotingri. Along the route, we can have sightseeing tour of numerous numbers of Stupas & Monasteries. Within a couple of days we reach to Rongbuk Village. Our concentration on your safely acclimatization keeps one extra day at Everest Advanced Base Camp with free excursion. Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa [3600m/11808ft] & transfer to Hotel
Our representative from Nepal Guide will greet you at Lhasa airport on your arrival schedule at Gongar Airport. You will then be transferred to the hotel in Lhasa where you will get additional information about the Short Tour to Lhasa. As you have reached over 3,500 meters above the sea level, it is best that you rest and stroll around the places in the evening for acclimatization. Spend the overnight at the hotel in Lhasa - the capital , heart and soul of Tibet.

Day 02: Sightseeing Tour at Lhasa [ Potala Palace & Norbulingka Palace]
After breakfast we will visit the Potala Palace which is one of the most monumental of structures in Tibet. The massive palace was built around the 17th century. We will explore and reveal the enormity of Potala Palace which was designed to serve numerous diverse functions. All administrative and political decisions were made from here. The sacred images, spectacular tombs of Dalai Lamas, large chapels, storage chambers, treasuries - all contributes to Potala's extraordinary status.

After lunch we will visit Norbulingka Palace which was established by the Seventh Dalai Lama, Kelsang Gyatso around the 18th century. Since the middle of 18th century the palace has been the official summer residence of the Dalai Lama. The palace consists of more than 400 rooms and chapels. Besides, the ' Jewel Park ' or the garden of the palace is highly acknowledged for being the biggest man made garden in whole Tibet.

Day 03: Sightseeing Tour at Lhasa [Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar]
After breakfast we will visit Sera Monastery which was founded in 1419 AD by Sakya Yeshe - a principal disciple of Tsong Khapa. The complex of Sera comprises of 'Tsokchen' (Great Hall), three 'tratsangs' and thirty 'khangtsens'. A khangtsen is a residential compound with chapels reserved for monks coming from different parts of Tibet, whereas a tratsang is an educational institution that offers specialized studies to monks.

Then we will visit Drepung Monastery which was founded in 1416 AD by Jamyang Chöje - a leading disciple of Tsong Khapa. The major structures of the monastery follow a simple architectural comprising of a courtyard, a large hall and inner chapels. Also, the tombs of three Dalai Lamas are sited at Drepung. Around 500 monks and their young novices have returned to live at Drepung since the early 1980's.

Our next attraction destination is Jokhang Temple. It has earned its reputation as Tibet's most sacred temple. The temple was built by King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century. The vast majority of its extant statues dates from 1980 onwards whereas most of its murals are from the 18th and 19th centuries. We will explore the temple's rich historical artifacts that have been well preserved.  

To end our long sightseeing day we will take a walk around the busy market of Barkhor Bazaar. The open air stalls, souvenir shops and crowds of pilgrims truly makes this market the center-point of Lhasa. After a long day of sightseeing we head back to our hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 04: Drive from Lhasa to Shigatse [3900m/12792ft] [7 hrs Drive]
Today is a rather long day of driving. After breakfast we will leave Lhasa and drive towards Shigatse, which is the second biggest city of Tibet after Lhasa. Our drive passes through Lake Yamdrok Tso - one of the 3 largest sacred lakes in Tibet, Kamba La Pass at 4,794 meters and Karo La Pass at 5010 meters before arriving at  the town of Gyantse. From there our drive continues for a while to reach Shigatse for our overnight stay.

Day 05: Drive from Shigatse to Lotingri [4050m/13284ft] [5-6 hrs Drive]
Early in the morning we will visit Tashilungpu Monastery - which is the official Panchen Lama's residence built around 1447 A.D. The monastery demonstrates strong uphold of both cultural and historical aspects founded by Gendun Drup, the first Dalai Lama. Then we will depart Shigatse and continue our drive journey that leads us towards Lotingri - the starting point of our trek. Our drive passes through the town of Lhatse and Shegar as approach at Lotingri for the overnight stay.

Day 06: Trek from Lotingri to Lungchang [4510m/14796ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
We start our trek from Lotingri by following the trail that goes along the plains of Ra chu valley. Our trek continues as we trek passing through extensive meadows with astonishing views of surrounding valleys and high mountains. During the trek we are most likely to encounter large herds of domesticated animals like sheeps and goats. Soon we will pass through a small gompa in Chholun. From there a short and pleasant trek will lead us to our campsite at Lungchang.

Day 07: Trek from Lungchang to Panga La Thang via Nam La Pass [5100m/16732ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
After breakfast we will leave our campsite at Lungchang and follow a rising trail heading towards Nam La Pass at 5,100 meters. Our trek goes along the high and flat plains of Tibet as we ascend gradually to reach the top of the pass. After some time of tiring uphill trekking we will arrive at the top of the pass marked by cairns and hundreds of prayer flags. We will enjoy the stunning views of towering mountains and high valleys from the top of the pass. Then we will descend gently to reach Panga La Thang for our overnight camping.

Day 08: Trek from Panga La Thang to Rongbuk Village [4920m/16137ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Today we leave our campsite at Panga La Thang and follow a descending trail with mesmerizing views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and other surrounding snow capped mountains. Upon reaching Rongbuk we will pay our visit to ' Rongbuk Monastery ' at an elevation of 5,154 meters -renowned for being at the highest altitude among all other monasteries in Tibet. Rongbuk Glacier is another point of attraction here at Rongbuk. We will camp at Rongbuk village.

Day 09: Trek from Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp [5250m/17220ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
Today we will leave Rongbuk village and trek towards Everest Base Camp. Our trek is over rugged and rocky trails as we approach the base of world's highest mountain - Mt Everest. Only seeing the massive mountain gives a feeling of a life time achievement. We will arrive at the base camp after few hours of trekking. Our crew will quickly set up the camp for our overnight camping at base camp.

Day 10: Acclimatization and Exploration at Everest Base Camp 
By now we have reached over 5,000 meters above the sea level. So, acclimatization is very important to avoid mental and physical sickness that may arise from altitude sickness. Today we will spend our day resting, exploring and indulging in small hikes around base camp that are considered best from acclimatization point of view. Overnight camping at Everest Base Camp.

Day 11: Trek from Everest Base Camp to Japanese Camp [5460m/17913ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
After enjoying a full day rest and exploring around Everest Base Camp, we gather our gears and continue our trekking on the trail that goes along Rongbuk Glacier. After some time of trekking our trail climbs steeply through the east side of the glacier to reach Japanese Camp for the overnight camping. Our campsite is located below a large yellow rock and offers stunning view of Mt. Pumori.

Day 12: Trek from Japanese Camp to Interim Camp [5800m/19028ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
Today we will make a relaxed start and start to follow a slightly rising trail at first. Our trail steepens as we head towards higher altitudes. We are greeted with amazing views of Mt Pumori, Mt Nuptse and beautiful mountain valleys as continue of trek. After few hours of tiring trek we will arrive at our campsite, popularly known as the Interim Camp. Overnight camping at Interim Camp.

Day 13: Trek to Changtse Base Camp [5950m/19520ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
After breakfast we leave Interim Camp and trek further to reach Changtse Base Camp. Mt Changtse is located to the north of Mt Everest. Thus, the name Changtse in Tibetan language literally means 'North Peak'. Our trek today is rather short but technical trekking with amazing panoramic views of Everest and other neighboring mountains in the region. Overnight camping at Changtse Base Camp.

Day 14: Trek to Everest Advanced Base Camp [6340m/20800ft] & Back to Changste Base Camp [7-8 hrs Trek]
Today we start early as we have a long trekking day ahead of us. From Changste Base Camp, our trail is a gradual uphill trekking all the way to Everest Advanced Base Camp at 6,340 meters above the sea level. In fact, it is the closest to the summit of Everest that a non climber can get. After few hours of tiring trek we will arrive at the Everest Advanced Base Camp. Upon reaching the base camp, we are greeted with mind blowing and up-close view of Mount Everest - which truly is an awesome feeling. We will spend some quality time at Everest Advanced Base Camp before retracing our steps back to Changtse Base Camp for the overnight camping.

Day 15: Return back to Shigatse[3900m]
After breakfast, we will pack our gears and prepare for the return journey. We will leave our campsite and retrace our way back to Shigatse

Day 16: Drive from Shigatse to Lhasa[3650m] [271 km, 5 - 6 hrs Trek]
On this day we return back to Lhasa the beginning point of our trek.

Everest Advanced Base Camp..wow!!!

Everest Advanced Base Camp in Tibet was our great vacation. Our dream tour was fulfilled by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition. Our tour started from Kathmandu then to Lhasa.
