Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.
Our airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at Tribhuwan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will then be transferred to the hotel. Our representative will assist you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office for brief discussion about the trip. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

Day 02: Sightseeing world heritage sites at Kathmandu

Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Paro [2200m/7216ft] & transfer to Thimpu [2300m/7544ft] [1 hr Drive]
After breakfast Nepal Guide Trek's airport representative will drop you at the Airport for a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu towards Bhutan's only International airport at Paro. At Paro, you will be greeted by our representative. Then a drive towards Paro City for having Lunch. After lunch we will visit Ta Dzongs which is an ancient watch tower that was converted to National Museum of Bhutan in 1968. We will get a brief glimpse of Bhutanese history, culture and tradition at the Museum. Then, we will visit Paro Rimpung Dzong which is located below the National Museum. A short distance of walking will lead us through are several number of archery grounds where we might get lucky to catch an archery match in action. As a matter of fact, Archery is the national sport of Bhutan. We will take an hour's drive to reach the modern capital of Bhutan - Thimpu for the overnight stay.

Day 04: Drive from Thimpu to Trongsa [6-7 hrs Drive]
Today we will drive from Thimpu to Trongsa which is approximately 6-7 hours drive. Our drive climbs up to Dochula pass at 3050 meters from where magnificent views of Himalayan Ranges of Bhutan can be seen. From the top of the pass our drive journey descends into Wangdue and Punakha valley at an elevation of around 1400 meters. We will drive through several roadside villages towards Pele La pass at 3420 meters. We can enjoy magnificent views of high mountains including Mt. Chomolhari. Our drive journey descends through villages of Rukubji, Chendebji - we will visit a large white chorten beside a stream, Langtel and other villages to finally arrive at the small town of Trongsa. At Trongsa we will visit the huge white Trongsa Dzong which is the largest Dzong in Bhutan. It has a distinctive yellow roof. We will spend overnight at Trongsa.

Day 05: Drive from Trongsa to Bumthang [2-3 hrs Drive]
At Trongsa we will visit Ta Dzong museum in the morning where collection of historical artifacts from Royal Family are preserved. Here we will have chance to learn about how royal authorities in Bhutan used to operate activities and along with the rich artifacts belonging to Bhutanese Royal Family. Later we will take a drive that takes approximately about 3 hours to reach Bumthang - the spiritual heart of Bhutan. We will spend an additional day of exploration and sightseeing here at Bumthang.

Day 06: Sightseeing and exploration at Bumthang 
Bumthang is considered as the heart of Bhutan's cultural and traditional values. With several palaces, ancient temples and monasteries Bumthang provides an exceptional spot for spending a perfect sightseeing day. We will visit the grand Kurje Lhakhang, Jambey Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang and the administrative center of Bumthang - Jakar Dzong. At the afternoon we will make a short hike to Lhodrak Kharchu Monastery which is a remarkable Tibetan Buddhist monastery worth paying a visit. In the evening feel free to stroll around the local handicraft shops.

Day 07: Drive from Bumthang to Punakha [6-7 hrs Drive]
After breakfast we will take a drive from Bumthang to Punakha which is the ancient capital of Bhutan. Our drive journey takes approximately about seven hours to arrive at Punakha. Our drive is a scenic journey through small roadside villages, cascading waterfalls and crossing over the black mountains to finally arrive at Punakha. At Punakha, we will visit Punakha Dzong (second oldest and second largest Dzong of Bhutan) - fortress that was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Rinpoche. Punakha Dzong is remarkably located between the two rivers of Mo (Female) Chu and Pho (Male) Chu and houses the most elaborated temple in Bhutan. It is the ancient capital of Bhutan and served as the winter capital (settlement) for more than 300 years.  We will spend the overnight at Punakha.

Day 08: Drive from Punakha to Paro [2200m/7216ft] [4 hrs Drive] via Thimpu
Today we will make an early morning hike through pleasant paddy fields and farm houses to arrive at the temple of Chimi Lhakhang. Chimi Lhakhang is the famous fertility monastery that was built in 1456. The temple is significantly associated with the religious arts of Bhutan. We will spend some time exploring around Chimi Lhakhang before heading back to the hotel. After lunch we will take a drive from Punakha to reach Paro. After arriving at Paro - we will have a rest much needed for the hike to Taksang Monastery (Tiger Nest) the following day. Feel free to explore the streets of Paro.

Day 09: Morning hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery [3180m/10430ft] [2-3 hrs Hike] & back to Paro.
Today we will start with a drive to Satsam Chorten. From here we will start to hike or seize a chance to ride a horse up to Cafeteria - from here on one must walk for about one and half hour to reach all the way to Paro Taktsang Monastery popularly known as Tiger's Nest. It is the most valued temple of Bhutan that literally hangs on a fascinating granite cliff overlooking the whole Paro valley below. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava, who is widely known as Guru Rinpoche flew on a tigress' back on this site to subdue a demon. After that he stayed and meditated here for three months. The monastery was blessed and sanctified as one of Bhutan's most sacred religious sites. Cameras and Photography is prohibited inside the monastery so we will have to deposit our bags and cameras at the security entrance. We will be spending most of the day hiking and exploring around Tiger Nest Monastery. We descend back to arrive at our hotel at Paro. It is our last day at Paro before flying back to Kathmandu. So, grab a chance to peep into some souvenir shops at Paro for memory or for loved ones back home. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 10: Fly to Kathmandu
After the wonderful experience of learning the Bhutanese history, culture, tradition and lifestyle you will take a flight from Paro back to Kathmandu. Nepal Guide Trek's airport representative will pick you up at the airport in Kathmandu. Then a drive to the hotel in Kathmandu City. You will be spending one more additional day for exploring Kathmandu Valley. Nepal's largest city and capital - Kathmandu is a fascinating city where pagoda styled temples crowd the traffic into narrow paved lanes and where myth, religion and history intertwine at every corner. Remaining sites of world heritage within Kathmandu those wasn't possible on the second day can be visited today.

Day 11: Leisure day at Kathmandu
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. In the evening walk around the souvenirs shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will have a final meal together in the evening after the completion of the wonderful Bhutan Cultural Tour with Nepal Guide Treks.

Cultural Experience of Nepal and Bhutan

We 3 people from Netherlands really interested to explore and study about culture & Heritage so we choose to visit Nepal and Bhutan.
