A glimpse of Bhutan tour with Nepal Guide Treks starts after having a couple of day’s tour in Kathmandu. Bhutan tour starts with a flight to Bhutan’s one and only international airport Paro. We visit Ta Dzong museum, Rimppong Dzong and Taktsang Monastery (also known as Tiger Nest) in beautiful Paro valley, National Chorten, Changangkha temple and ancient scripture in capital city Thimpu.

Tour continues to Punakha valley to explore and visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakang via a crossing of amazing Dochula pass 3050m. Wonderful trip to Bhutan returns Kathmandu via Paro airport for final departure to own destination.

  • Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.

    Our airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at Tribhuwan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will then be transferred to the hotel. Our representative will assist you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office for a brief discussion about the trip. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

  • Day 02: Sightseeing world heritage sites at Kathmandu

    Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

  • Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Paro [2200m/7216ft]

    Today you will be transferred to International Airport for a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu towards Bhutan’s only International airport at Paro. You will be greeted by Nepal Guide Trek’s representative at your arrival schedule at Paro Airport. We will then drive towards Paro City for having Lunch. After lunch, we will visit Ta Dzongs which is an ancient watchtower that was converted to the National Museum of Bhutan in 1968. We will get a brief glimpse of Bhutanese history, culture and tradition at the Museum. Then, we will visit Paro Rimpung Dzong which is located below the National Museum. A short distance of walking will lead us through are several numbers of archery grounds where we might get lucky to catch an archery match in action. As a matter of fact, Archery is the national sport of Bhutan. We will spend our overnight at Paro.

  • Day 04: Drive from Paro to Thimpu [2300m/7544ft] [1 hr Drive]. Sightseeing tour at Thimpu.

    After breakfast, we will take an hour’s drive towards the modern capital city of Bhutan – Thimpu. At Thimpu we will make visits to National Memorial Chorten, National Library – for witnessing piles of priceless Buddhist manuscripts, Bhutan Folk Heritage Museum – where we can learn about Bhutanese household and lifestyle as the museum exhibits items and artefacts used in a rural household. After lunch, we will visit the Textile Museum – where the traditional art of weaving is still preserved. There is a fine collection of old textiles with a fascinating mixture of colours and designs. We will also visit the Handicraft Emporium that has impressive Bhutanese handicrafts for sale. In the evening, walking the streets of Thimpu is a good idea. We will spend our overnight at Thimpu.

  • Day 05: Drive from Thimpu to Punakha [1350m/4428ft] [2-3 hrs Drive]. Sightseeing at Punakha.

    After breakfast, we will leave Thimpu and take a scenic drive over through Dochula Pass at 3050 meters which offers panoramic views of Himalayan ranges of Bhutan. Our drive journey heads towards the fertile valley of Punakha. At Punakha, we will visit Punakha Dzong (second oldest and second-largest Dzong of Bhutan) – a fortress that was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Rinpoche. Punakha Dzong is remarkably located between the two rivers of Mo (Female) the Chu and Pho (Male) the Chu and houses the most elaborated temple in Bhutan. It is the ancient capital of Bhutan and served as the winter capital (settlement) for more than 300 years. Then we will take a hike through pleasant paddy fields and farmhouses to arrive at the temple of Chimi Lhakhang. Chimi Lhakhang is the famous fertility monastery that was built in 1456. The temple is significantly associated with the religious arts of Bhutan. We will spend some time exploring around Chimi Lhakhang before heading back to our hotel at Punakha for the overnight stay.

  • Day 06: Drive from Punakha back to Paro [2200m/7216ft] [4 hrs Drive] via Thimpu.

    Today we will take a drive from Punakha and drive along the same route passing through Thimpu to reach Paro. We will make several stops along our drive journey for visiting sites with religious and cultural significance.  After arriving at Paro – we will have a rest much needed for the hike to Taksang Monastery (Tiger Nest) the following day. Feel free to explore the streets of Paro.

  • Day 07: Hike to Tiger Nest Monastery [3180m/10430ft] [2-3 hrs Hike] & back to Paro.

    Today we will start with a drive to Satsam Chorten. From here we will start to hike or seize a chance to ride a horse up to Cafeteria – from here on one must walk for about one and half hour to reach all the way to Paro Taktsang Monastery popularly known as Tiger’s Nest. It is the most valued temple of Bhutan that literally hangs on a fascinating granite cliff overlooking the whole Paro valley below. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava, who is widely known as Guru Rinpoche flew on a tigress’ back on this site to subdue a demon. After that, he stayed and meditated here for three months. The monastery was blessed and sanctified as one of Bhutan’s most sacred religious sites. Cameras and Photography are prohibited inside the monastery so we will have to deposit our bags and cameras at the security entrance. We will be spending most of the day hiking and exploring around Tiger Nest Monastery. We descend back to arrive at our hotel at Paro. It is our last day at Paro before flying back to Kathmandu. So, grab a chance to peep into some souvenir shops at Paro for memory or for loved ones back home. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Paro.

  • Day 08: Fly to Kathmandu from Paro

    After the wonderful experience of learning the Bhutanese history, culture, tradition and lifestyle you will take a flight from Paro back to Kathmandu. Nepal Guide Trek’s airport representative will pick you up at the airport in Kathmandu. Then a drive to the hotel in Kathmandu City. You will be spending one more additional day for exploring Kathmandu Valley. Nepal’s largest city and capital – Kathmandu is a fascinating city where pagoda styled temples crowd the traffic into narrow paved lanes and where myth, religion and history intertwine at every corner. Remaining sites of world heritage within Kathmandu those weren’t possible on the second day can be visited today.

  • Day 09: Leisure day at Kathmandu

    You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. In the evening walk around the souvenirs shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will have a final meal together in the evening after the completion of the wonderful Glimpse of Bhutan Tour with Nepal Guide Treks.
