Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek with Nepal Guide Treks is a perfect way to explore the cultural and natural wonders of the famous Langtang Valley and cross one of the difficult and challenging passes of the world – Ganja La Pass at 5122 meters. The trekking trip includes a hike up to Tserko Ri from Kyangjin Gompa for magnificent views of beautiful valleys and chains of high mountains within the Langtang Himalayan Range.
However, the most highlighted feature of this trekking is the crossing of Ganja La Pass which demands a certain level of physical fitness and previous experience of trekking. Considered as one of the challenging and difficult passes, one can get a thrilling lifetime experience while enjoying the great views of surrounding high mountains within the Langtang Himalayan Ranges.
Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek is an adventurous trekking trip that comprises of the trek through low altitudes dense Rhododendron filled forests with amazing waterfalls to the exceptional hike and trek at high altitude with magnificent mountain views, all being in the vicinity of warm and friendly locals.
Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek starts at Kathmandu. After spending a full day sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley, we will take a scenic drive from Kathmandu north-west passing through Trishuli Bazaar, Dunche, and then towards Syabru Besi – the starting point of our trek. We start our trek from here following the trail that goes along Langtang Khola. We will be trekking through dense forest and crossing several suspension bridges to reach Lama Hotel. From there we will make a steady climb over the valley leaving the forest towards Langtang Village.
We continue to follow our trekking trail that passes along the largest Mani wall in Nepal with prayers written on stones. Crossing several wooden bridges we head towards the thin air vicinity of Kyangjin Gompa. From Kyangjin Gompa we will take a hike over 5000 meters to Tserko Ri for magnificent views of Langtang Mountain Ranges and beyond before descending back to Kyangjin Gompa.
Our forward trekking heads towards the crossing of one of the challenging and difficult passes of Nepal – Ganja La Pass at 5122 meters which is covered with snow throughout the year. We will make a long ascent towards the summit of Ganja La which is situated on a rocky moraine. From the top, a panoramic view of Langtang Himalayan Ranges can be enjoyed before making a gradual downhill descent to reach Keldang.
From here we continue to descend slowly losing high altitudes and into the forests and grasslands passing through Yak Kharka, Tarke Gyang, and Sermathang to finally arrive at Melamchi Pul Bazaar to end our fantastic Ganja La Pass trekking. Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to hotel
Our airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will then be transferred to the hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu Valley

Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.Accommodation: Hotel/Resort

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi [1460mm/4788ft] [7-8 hrs Drive]
Leaving Kathmandu we will take a drive over the zigzag hilly road with good views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himalayan Ranges, our drive passes along the market town of Trisuli. From Trisuli our drive journey continues on a gravel road passing through Dhunche and further to reach Syabru Besi – the starting point of our trek.

Day 04: Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel [2470m/8101ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
We will start our trek from Syabru Besi, we will descend following the trail that drops down to Langtang Khola and from there turn east on the true left bank of the Langtang Khola. We continue our trek upstream with minor ups and downs towards Bamboo. We head for the crossing of a suspension bridge before crossing a couple of landslide areas and climb a switchback to reach Rimche. From Rimche our trail climbs a little before dropping to the village of Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village [3330m/10922ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Today we will follow the trail that goes through dense forest filled with oaks, birch, hemlock and mountain bamboo. During our trek, we will have the opportunity to spot wild monkeys and several species of birds. Our trek continues through the additional forest passing through alone teahouse at Gumnachok and from there climb steeply to reach Ghoratabela. There is an army check post at Ghoratabela where trekking permits will be checked. From here we will trek through small settlements of Chyamki and Kangtangsa before making a short climb to reach Langtang village.

Day 06: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa [3870m/12693ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
After Langtang Village, a village we will follow the trail that heads for an easy climb through two Bhotia hamlets – Mundu and Sindum with great views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo and Langshisa Ri. We will continue to trek on a trail that climbs up the terminal moraine of Lirung Glacier and then make an easy downhill descent to reach the gompa and many teahouses of Kyangjin Gompa.

Day 07: Hike to Tserko Ri [5000m/16404ft] and back to Kyangjin Gompa [5-6 hrs Trek]
Acclimatization is very crucial in higher altitudes to avoid mental and physical sickness. Therefore, today we will take a rest day at Kyangjin Gompa for acclimatization and exploration. For acclimatization, we can make an adventurous hike to Tsergo-Ri at 4985 meters from where magnificent views of Langtang Lirung and the surrounding high peaks are seen. The easiest viewpoint is to make a climb over to a hill north of Kyangjin Gompa where there are many prayer flags.

Day 08: Trek to Ganja La Phedi [4300m/14104ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
After taking breakfast at Kyangjin Gompa, we head towards Ganjala Phedi. First, we cross the Langtang River then follow the ascending trail. We will walk through the dense forest while continuously gaining the altitude level. Sometimes, we need to walk through snow paved trail depending upon the season.

Day 09: Cross the Ganja La Pass [5122m/16800ft] and Trek to Keldang [4250m/13940ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]
This day is very crucial for us that we are crossing adventurous Ganjala Pass. After taking early morning breakfast, we follow long ascending trail until reach to technical pass Ganja La. Ganja La Pass is comparatively serious than other mountain passes where we might require fixing the rope for around 50 meters. We can have great views of Mt. Naya Kanga 5844m, Ganjala Peak, and many other high mountains. After the successful cross, we gradually start to descend to reach Keldang.

Day 10: Trek to Yak Kharka [4000m/13120] [6-7 hrs Trek]
Leaving Keldang, we follow the trail to Yak Kharka. We gradually follow the descending trail with gradual decreasing altitude. We cross through several farmlands, grasslands, lush terraces and sometimes small village settlements. After seven hours of walk, we finally reach Yak Kharka.

Day 11: Trek to Tarke Gyang [2590m/8495ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Today, we follow most of the descending trails. We pass through numerous Sherpa villages and terraces. En-route we visit and explore monasteries and monuments. Tarkeghyang is popularly known as Helambu since most of the natives are from Hyolmo caste. Dinner and Overnight stay at Tarkeghyang.

Day 12: Trek to Sermathang [2610m/8560ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]
After breakfast, we start our journey to Sermathang. Almost trails are easy and not high ascending and descending. After two hours of gentle walk, we reach amazing valley Gangyul. Gangyul is a charming Sherpa village. We take some time to explore the village. After there, we again head towards Sermathing, reach within a short walk. At, Evening we visit a local village as well as a monastery. There is a monastery located at the highest point of the village. Dinner and overnight stay at Sermathang.

Day 13: Trek to Melamchi Puul Bazaar [3-4 hrs Trek] and Drive to Kathmandu [2-3 hrs Drive]
This is a final day of our Langtang Valley Ganjala Pass Trekking. After breakfast, we start our journey by following the descending trail to Melamchi Pul Bazaar. Melamchi Pul Bazaar is a small town settlement located in the bank of Melamchi stream. After there, we drive to Kathmandu after accomplish complete Langtang Ganjala Pass Trekking in Nepal with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.
