Trip Introduction:

Ramdung Peak Climbing in Nepal 5925m is one of the popular trekking peaks in the Rolwaling region. Ramdung peak is also known as Ramdung-Go. The peak was first explored by Bill Murray in 1952.

The peak is technically straightforward which demands careful logistical planning and adequate acclimatization before the climbing. Ramdung Peak Climbing with Nepal Guide Treks is an excellent opportunity for climbing the Ramdung Peak while exploring the less beaten Rolwaling region as well as the popular Khumbu region in one trek.

Ramdung Peak Climbing in Nepal with Nepal Guide Treks starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Gongar Khola via Jiri Charikot. From Gongor Khola we begin our adventurous journey passing through Rhododendron, Oaks, and Pines filled forest and along with traditional villages towards Na village.

After spending a good acclimatization day at Na we continue on our trail towards Ramdung Base Camp. Fully acclimatized and properly equipped we head off for climbing the summit with the guidance of experienced climbing experts recommended by Nepal Guide Treks. The climb to the summit is less technical compared to other trekking peaks. However, the altitude and remoteness of the peak guarantee a certain level of challenges.

Following the directions of the climbing experts, we head towards the peak summit. Once at the top we have an excellent view of Everest, Melungtse, Gaurishankar, and other surrounding peaks. After accomplishing the summit of Ramdung Peak we descend back to Na village. We head for the crossing of the challenging Tashi Lapcha Pass 5755m and then a pleasant walk all the way down to Lukla.

The wonderful experience at Ramdung Peak Climbing in Nepal with Nepal Guide Treks ends with a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu.

Ramdung Peak Climbing Difficulty

Ramdung Peak Climbing is a technical adventure at the Rolwaling Region. The peak is technically straightforward and demands careful planning, sound physical and mental stamina and logistic preparation. This peak climbing covers off the beaten trails, less explored and untouched natural ecology.

Ramdung Peak (5,925m) climbing is an excellent opportunity to explore less beaten Rolwaling as well as Khumbu Region at one single attempt. It involves crossing Tashi Lopcha Pass (5,755m) which is one of the high passes in Nepal. Therefore, Ramdung Peak climbing also demands a number of acclimatization.

Ramdung Peak Climbing Expedition provides an excellent opportunity to witness the high mountain peaks ranging from Langtang Range to Everest Himalayan Range, Mountain ecosystem, Mountain people and their culture. It is the best to package to experience the real adventure.

Climbing a mountain peak is not an easy piece of cake. It involves some potential dangers too. High altitude, glaciers and icefall, snowdrift, crevasses, steep and snowy trails are very challenging to undertake. Therefore, you need to have a logistic preparation beforehand. We recommend you for spending quite a long time for physical fitness and mental training before undertaking this adventure.

Ramdung Peak Climbing Season

Peak Climbing in Nepal is a seasonal activity. Autumn and Spring are the best seasons for climbing most of the mountains in Nepal. Autumn Season (September, October & November) and Spring Season (March, April & May) are the perfect seasons for Climbing Ramdung Peak. During these months, the days will be sunny and warm in the Himalayas. The skies will be clear and the atmosphere of the Himalayas will be alluring. Thus, we can have great views of the mountains. Nevertheless, some adventure-seeking clients who don’t like hustle and bustle during the journey also can choose Winter Season (December, January, and February) months for this trip. Monsoon season (June, July, and August) will be a pretty difficult time for climbing in the Himalayas because of monsoon. During monsoon, the trails will be slippery, muddy and there will be landslides too.

Preparations for Ramdung Peak Climbing

The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.  Preparation is key to the success of any activity.  Good preparations are must for the successful peak climbing. You need to consider several things before going for peak climbing. For the successful Ramdung Peak Climbing, your physique plays a vital role.  So, you must prepare yourself before the climb. You would better join a mountaineering course for 4-6 months. Otherwise, you can join the gym and have aerobic training, cardio, stress endurance training, hiking training etc. You can also practice jogging, cycling, swimming, hiking etc. on a regular basis. Your previous experiences on mountaineering are also important. So, you must practice hiking to some smaller peaks. Similarly, you should be careful about your diet. You must include plenty of protein, carbohydrates, and minerals in your diet. A balanced diet is very important for physical fitness. Moreover, you must be mentally ready to cope up with the adverse situations in the mountain. The weather is unstable at high altitude and you should also spend a couple of days in a camp. Hygiene matters a lot for the success of the climb. In addition to all these, you must also go through Ramdung Peak Climbing Gears checklist and have enough collection of them.

We suggest every trekker who is planning to come to Nepal for trekking and peak climbing adventure to do daily physical workout (jogging, hiking, cycling, gym, etc) prior to a couple of weeks. We recommend you to undertake Ramdung Peak only if you have undertaken other smaller peaks of the same region. Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness is the effect of oxygen deficiency in the blood and tissues at the high altitude. It is the negative health effect of high altitude due to the rapid exposure to a low amount of oxygen at high elevation. The common symptoms of Altitude sickness include headaches, vomiting, tiredness, trouble sleeping and dizziness.

Altitude Sickness generally referred as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) occurs only above 2500m. The main reason for altitude sickness is rapid ascent and decreasing amount of oxygen at the high altitude. There are mainly three types of altitude sickness: Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and High Altitude Cerebral Edema.

Altitude Sickness can become a medical emergency if ignored. The best way to prevent altitude sickness is to travel to high altitude slowly. It normally doesn’t take long for your body to adjust into a changed altitude. At the higher altitudes, the air pressure and oxygen level are comparatively lower. Our body takes time to adjust to such change. We suggest you keep you hydrated, not to smoke or drink the alcoholic substance, eat hygienic food, sleep low, take it easy, use Diamox tablets etc. to prevent yourself from Altitude Sickness.

Is Nepal Safe?

No doubt, Nepal is safe for trekking, hiking and mountaineering. The trekking trails are improvised and maintained as well. In many technical sections, ropes have been fixed.

The stains of the devastating earthquake have also been healing up and the decade long armed insurgency has also come to an end along with the implementation of the new constitution.

Tourist Help Desk and Tourism Information Centre have been established at the prominent tourist destinations. Moreover, you will receive a respectable welcome everywhere you go. The Nepali people are simple and kind to you and pay a wonderful hostage to you.

Don’t worry; Nepal is a safe country to visit.
