How to Get to Poon Hill?

Poonhill Trek begins in Kathmandu. You can either have a flight to Pokhara or drive along the Prithivi Highway. If you catch an early morning flight to Pokhara from the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will have even a short duration for the trek. After landing at Pokhara, you will drive towards Nayapul which will take about one and half hours. Then you will trek towards Tikhedhunga from Nayapul.

Outline Itinerary of Poon Hill Trek

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival in Nepal, you will be received warmly by the representatives of Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition. They will take you to the hotel at Thamel. They will also help you check-in at the hotel. You can rest for the day and in the evening you will have a meeting with Guide and porter and we shall have dinner together.

Day 02: Fly to Pokhara in the Morning and Drive to Nayapul then Trek to Tikhedhunga

We will catch an early morning flight to Pokhara. It will take about 20 minutes. Then we will have a drive for another one and a half hour towards Nayapul – the starting point of our trek. From Nayapul we will start our trek along the sub-tropical Modi Khola river valley towards Birethanti. At Birethanti we will have to make a stop at the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP)’s checkpoint. After completing the registration and permit check process we will continue our trek through terraced rice fields towards Tikhedhunga for the overnight stay.

Day 03: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

From Tikhedhunga our trail crosses a small stream before climbing up a steep stone staircase towards the large Magar village of Ulleri at 2070 meters. We will continue our trek through rhododendron and oak-filled forests passing through Nangethanti to reach Ghorepani. From here we will have good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and other fascinating snow-capped peaks.

Day 04: Morning hike to Poonhill & Trek to Ghandruk

Day 05: Trek to Saulibazar and Drive to Pokhara

Today is the last day of the trek. After having breakfast, we will descend to Saulibazar and drive to Pokhara. It will take almost two and half hours to reach Saulibazar from Ghandruk. Then, we will take a ride for about two hours to reach Pokhara on a Jeep. Pokhara is the trekkers’ paradise. We will visit the lakeside in the evening. It will be the most appealing time of your lifetime. We will stay in Pokhara and rest.

Day 06: Fly Back to Kathmandu and Departure
